YMC’s Menswear Fall/Winter 2015 Breaks All the Rules in London

As a label renowned for not sticking to a single theme or conforming to a particular seasonal trend, the YMC men’s AW15 collection stays true to the brands ethos and offers a melange of sportswear, workwear, and 90’s minimalism infused with the 80s.

With an emphasis on a luxury, clean lines and relaxed shapes provide the silhouette to the ultimate smart casual wardrobe. A palette of navy, black and grey is lifted with pops of yellow, blush pink and bright green, with playful patterns such as the hand finished Pollockesque flick paint, bold stripes and checks providing graphic appeal.

Fabrics include soft Nappa leather, sheepskin and a unique bonded wool and metal which gives a 3-D like effect. Modern neoprene and wool bonds provide a sportier take on traditional textiles and the use of blanket wool gives a more rustic feel.

Collection highlights include the Nappa leather tracksuit, the sheepskin jacket, the metal and wool donkey jacket, the cropped Kilt blazer, the wool flannel tracksuit and the woven checkerboard shirt. Vintage comic book horror prints provide a pop art feel to jersey wear and smock style knits and cashmere blends add a sophistication to knitwear.

Accessory highlights include a wide brimmed wool fedora hat which is completely foldable and a blocked riding cap––both of which have been developed for YMC by British milliner Christy. A strong footwear range compliments the mainline collection and standout shoes include the hand finished oiled roughside leather Derby shoes and the YMC staple, the Solovair Zip Front Derby. A key addition to the new season collection is a collaboration with the iconic American footwear brand Sperry with two classic styles in suede.
