Shooting the good life with Alessandro Gruttadauria

Taormina on the east coast of Sicily supplies beautiful background scenery for this shoot, which acutely recalls the Italian Riviera. Set in the La Dolce Vita area, stylist Rodrigo Giamis Ramos explains that the site was chosen because of how effectively it plays with traditional Italian imagery.

As part of the Made in Medi project, the bags used in the shoot are handmade using local materials, offering a fun feel despite their simple and elegant designs. Women’s bags are produced using natural fibers, largely adhering to a natural color scheme, whereas a men’s case in dark leather provides a rugged addition to a summer suit.

All bags were designed by Sicilian artists and produced locally, with starfish and other nautical elements visibly incorporated into designs that look equally at home on the beach, in a café or at an evening party.

The shoot video offers a chance to see cast and crew involved in crafting each shot, with every individual playing a role in bringing attention to summer bags in a tropical environment. Photographer Alessandro Gruttadauria ably captures the villa style as models stroll through streets with their favorite bags.
