Apart from looking good, I love smelling good and fresh. So my love for smelling like a flower today led me to the discovery of Dolce fragrance by dolce & Gabbana. The feminine perfume which was designed to make the woman feel fresh and feminine has an African secret behind it.

The fragrance embodies the delicate balance between timeless craftsmanship and creation in the art of perfume composition. What fascinates me about the perfume more is the fact that the flower, which is the signature scent and the fragrance touch originates from Africa.

The Flower known as the White Amariyllis which comes from a region called Fynbos that is part of the cape Floral Kingdom in the native Western Cape region of South Africa. The area is particularly in the rocky southwest area which is between the Olifants River Valley areas to Knysna.

The name of the flower which originates from the Greek word “Amarysso” means I give light.

Another amazing fact is that this white amaryllis found in this specific area is the only flower of its kind that has a rich and glamorous odour while other white Amaryllis from elsewhere don’t.

According to Domenico Dolce, “The nobility of the soul, the elegance of every day gestures, the joy of sharing from generation to generation, and the effortless perfection of a single white flower. This is the picture of Sicily that I carry within me, and the one captured in this delicate fragrance.”

The flower buds grow at different speeds so that each will have a different scent. Dolce captures the exact scent of the flower when in full bloom without having to cut and grind the petals to extract the oil.

The model and face of the Dolce perfume Kate King, “the fragrance is floral which is really nice. Very fresh, it doesn’t have the stereo typical scent to it. It is very modern, fresh and very young.”

According to the Dolce & Gabbana team the fragrance can be described in three, the top, the heart and the base.

“The top of the fragrance opens with a brightly-colored, sweet-smelling explosion of Neroli leaves and Papaya flower, dissipating into a floral bouquet as the core of the fragrance emerges.”

“The heart is unique and opulent combination of White Water Lily and bold White Daffodil blend perfectly with the full-bodied White Amaryllis, a South African flower used for the first time ever in scent.”

“The base is this floral signature is counterbalanced by the background of warm Musky notes, along with the complex accents of Cashmeran; leaving a sensual trail of light woods, earthy tones and piquant spices.”
