See by Chloé fragrance to launch in February 2013

Coty Fragrances will launch a new perfume for the famed French fashion house Chloé's diffusion line See by Chloé. The scent, aimed at the 18-30 core audience, will go on sale in the spring.

Licensee Coty Inc. will produce the scent, which is expected to be the first in a series of fragrances under the See by Chloé label.

"Chloé is one of our fastest-growing houses and we are positioning it as a powerhouse," Jean Mortier, president of Coty Prestige, told WWD. "It has a huge global reach and also much potential in the U.S."

The new fragrance adds to the existing fragrance portfolio, which includes Love, Narcisse and L'eau De Chloe. The perfume was created by Michel Almairac and features bergamot, apple blossom accord, jasmine, sandalwood and vanilla in a glass birdcage-style bottle.

Twenty-three-year-old Bette Franke will star in the ads and publicity campaign for the perfume. The Dutch model is also the face of the See by Chloé clothing line.

Going into stores in the spring, the eau de parfum will be available in three sizes, 1 oz. ($58), 1.7 oz. ($78) and 2.5 oz. for ($98). Customers will also be able to get their hands on a 5-oz. body lotion ($45), and a 5-oz. shower gel ($40). Industry analysts are expecting See by Chloé to make $70 million globally in sales in the first year.

Coty paid $800 million for the Chloé scent licenses back in May 2005, in a deal which also included Calvin Klein, Cerruti, Vera Wang and Karl Lagerfeld.
