Sexy, Young and Fun Bridalwear from Topshop

Is this what we want? I am sure that most of you are already aware of the fact that Topshop have launched a bridal range, in collaboration with Richard Nicoll. There is no doubt a lot of money to be made in weddings, with the average bride spending over $1,000 on a dress. It is no wonder high street retailers want to get a slice of this very nice pie. As to the new line by Topshop, it is lovely - the cupped bustier tops, layered shear fabrics, short dolly dresses...all very pretty, young and fun. Although I can’t help but wonder if this is the right message to be sending to young girls. “Go on get married! It will be like, totally random, you can get a really cool dress at Topshop for under 300 dollars.” Don’t get me wrong I LOVE Topshop, but to me theses dresses look more like sexy nightdresses, perhaps better suited to the notion of bridesmaids, rather than actual brides. However, what strikes me as interesting about this new bridal range is whether other retail giants will follow suit? How long will it take to see H&M, Zara, or Mango all jumping on the bridalwear bandwagon? Is the high street going to takeover bridalwear as well?
