Orange is the Color of 2012

Pantone Color Institute has named "Tangerine Tango" as 2012's official color. A reddish orange shade, this is the style to look for this spring.

"Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

What does this mean? It means various shades of orange are brightening up clothes in the retail world. Color is big this spring and instead of the usual easter pastel color palette, designers are gravitating more towards radiant shades of colors you'd find in a sunset. It can be challenging to find the exact color of "Tangerine Tango," but any shade of orange will make you stand out this year. Here are some of Fashion One's top choices.

This $95 peplum style dress from Lipsy London features bold cut out straps in the front and back, a pleat skirt detail with a fitted pencil fit. Perfect for the office if paired with a nice blazer or dress it up with strappy heels and head out to a cocktail party.

This $395 Eva Franco dress mimics colors of a setting sun. A beautiful and original dress for any occasion. The fun colors will make you the brightest beauty in the room.

This Pieces belt is $16.11, featuring a smooth texture with a stretch panel detail to reverse, and an engraved gold-tone buckle fastening to the front. I would add this belt to a black dress to really make the belt standout. Add some orange or gold heels for bonus points.

Celebrate the warm weather in this orange maxi dress from Forever 21. At only $15.50, you can rock the maxi trend in a bright orange shade. Pair it with brown wedges or gladiator sandals, and a statement necklace.

A $395 contrast panal dress by Pink Tartan, featuring the colorblocking trend. Definitely wear tall white wedges and lots of gold bracelets with this beauty.

A $57 chiffon sleeveless blouse by Goldie, and a perfect shade of Tangerine Tango with contrasting blue polka dots. Perfect casual shirt to wear with skinny jeans and flats. You could even dress it up and wear it with khaki pants and brown heels.

Dolce Vita suede loafters at only $79. Yes please. A lovely shade of orange and a classic cut shoe. These can be worn with almost anything. Get creative and use the shoes to colorblock.

Mmm -- a $322 collarless 100% silk blazer  by Therese Rawsthorne.  Could be worn to work or dressed casually. Wonderful go-to jacket to have in the closet.

I really love this $158 BCBG silk top. The cutout detail in the front and back is a very original look and the lighter orange shade can be worn with so many bottoms -- bright, black, brown, skirt, pants, shorts, anything.  A very versatile top.

Loving this $198 Remi & Emmy mini bag. This purse could go with any outfit listed above. The gold chain adds a sophisticated touch. A great accessory to brighten up any outfit.
